On the Pitcher’s Mound | Give Miami Day - Mission Control
November 20th, inside LoanDepot Park right on the pitcher’s mound…that’s where we built our media hub at Mission Control. Give Miami Day connected nonprofits from across the city raising funds, sharing their missions, and moving with urgency. The energy was fast-paced, lots of movement before we even got started, but where we were standing, it felt more focused. More intentional. This day meant a lot to us. Working alongside Radical Partners had been on our radar for a while, and when the opportunity finally aligned, we came ready.
We designed the entire setup ourselves, not just to look good, but to create an experience. Two photo booths. Two interview stations. All running at the same time. No breaks, no resets, just a constant rhythm of people stepping in and out. Leaders came straight from conversations about funding into interviews about how they impact our community. Non-profits and their teams pulled up and left with headshots that actually matched the level they were operating on. Organizations finally had the space to say what they’ve been trying to say for years.
On one side, the photo booths stayed active back-to-back. On the other, interviews never stopped and were on high-demand. We facilitated real conversations on the work being done in the community.
We got to capture organizations we genuinely respect Art Prevails Project, Guitars Over Guns, We Reach Foundation, and Period Miami groups that don’t always get this kind of spotlight but absolutely deserve it. In between all of that, the day kept opening up. We connected with Stichiz, ran into familiar faces, and met new people that felt aligned from the start. It didn’t feel like a production, it felt like a system that made space for people to show up fully. And at the same time, we were part of it too. Erace The Hate raised $10,591 that day!!! This was more than a number, or donation, but a reflection of the community we’re building.
Miami Foundation has grown Give Miami Day into one of the largest giving events in the country, raising tens of millions of dollars and supporting hundreds of organizations. The scale is undeniable, but inside Mission Control, it came down to something much smaller.
Conversations that might’ve never been recorded, now documented.
Leaders who don’t always get the spotlight, now seen clearly.
Organizations that usually operate behind the scenes, now walking away with something they can actually use to grow.
That’s the difference.
Our goal was for organizations to leave with something that extends beyond the moment.
Mission Control. Mission Accomplished.
